“What marvelous love the Father has extended to us! Just look at it—we’re called children of God!” (1 John 3:1a MSG)
My Heavenly Father’s love for me causes me smile, cry, and be blown me away. I am so amazed at the indescribable love that the Father has for His children. I’m in awe of His love. Oh, how He loves me. Oh, how He loves you! I wish I could find an extravagant word that could describe God’s love. He loves much. When I think about His love, how He loves us, and how He proves His love for us daily, tears fill my eyes. I have no doubt that the Creator loves me so dearly, and I love Him so much (1 John 4).
Growing up, I needed my earthly father’s love. I wanted it, but I never got it. My father never showed me he loved me and if he did love me, I never saw it, heard it, or knew it. I wanted to be loved by my father, I needed it. It was so important to me and I believe that’s why I craved it so bad. I needed hugs, I needed validation, and I needed love from other people because I did not get those things from my father. I longed to hear my father tell me that he loved me, tell me that he was proud of me, and give me a big hug. Growing up, those words never came out of his mouth until my late thirties (this is when better late than never is so wonderful!!). When my father finally said those words I longed to hear, I was like a kid in a candy shop. I cried like a baby, I wanted to scream, I was so relieved. I blushed and I was very happy.
Hearing my father tell me he loves me was like ointment and medicine for my broken soul. Those words were bandages for the wounds and scars that I had for many years, and finally they were being healed. Now, whenever we talk on the phone, he makes it a point to tell me he loves me. Whenever, we see each other, my father gives me a big hug. He tells me he’s proud of my and how smart I am. Now, I know he loves me!
Unlike my earthly father, God has been telling me and showing me that He loves me since the beginning of time. God has been telling you and showing you that He loves you before you even existed. God adores you! He loves us. We are always on His mind; He’s always thinking about us. Before He created this world, He was thinking about you and me. Oh, how He loves us!
If we want to know how to love, if we’re looking for love, if we want to experience real love, all we have to do is look to our Heavenly Father. His love is so remarkable and it’s so good to be loved by Him. He loves us even when we’re wrong (that’s what melts my heart!). He loves us even when we are a mess (Eph. 2:4: Rom. 5).
Here’s our biblical principle for today:
“But God is rich in mercy, and he loved us very much. We were spiritually dead because of all we had done against him. But he gave us new life together with Christ. (You have been saved by God’s grace.)” Eph. 2:4-5, ERV
In spite of ourselves, our Father still continues to love us. Now, that’s astounding! During your Quiet Time, read the Fathers Love Manual (The Bible) and bask in His Love.
