Daddy’s Living His Best Life

(Written: 11/3/20 @5:50am(

I woke up early this morning; and to my surprise, sadness wasn’t there. My heart and mind were filled with peace. There wasn’t an empty feeling or void space inside. My heart was content. I had a smile on my face. I greeted the day with “Good morning, Lord. Thanks for giving me another day.”

Though my father is no longer with me on this side of heaven, I know he is living his best life in the ever after. I can see him experiencing eternity bliss with the Creator. He has a huge smile on his face and is singing praises to the Savior, along with the heavenly host. My daddy received his crown a year ago today. Now, he’s serving King Jesus in an amazingly different way.

Daddy, I think about you all the time. I laugh within myself when I remember something funny you said or did. I’m deeply grateful for the time we spent together. Searching the Scripture, asking questions, and seeking to know more about the Creator. You motivated me to study God’s Word more so that I could learn and share His truths. You inspired me to walk humbly before God and daily be in awe of His power. Thank you, daddy.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the opportunity to truly experience the love of an earthly father. It was such a blessing to grow spiritually with my sweet dad. I’m grateful for our father-daughter relationship, the not so beautiful beginning, the muddy middle, and the monumental moments we shared as You lead my father to his earthly ending, but heavenly beginnings. I, too, shall journey from life to death and will see my dad, mom, brother, grandparents, and family members who have reached the other side. What I’m most looking forward to seeing is You, great God, and my sweet Savior, Lord, and Friend, Jesus Christ.

Until then… RIH Daddy! I love you and miss you!

Prayers for the Bereaved:

To the one who is experiencing a new normal, struggling to learn how to live this earthly life without your loved one. May you cling to the Savior like never before! May He become your lifeline and security even more. May God’s peace and love comfort your broken heart. May you discover God’s beauty and grace in the midst of your grief. May you learn to laugh and smile when precious memories flood your mind, and may your soul find rest in the arms of our Savior.

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.””

Revelation 21:4 NLT
